55 SS necro problems + more
Edit: There is confusion as to what I am saying. I do have all expansions, but I do not have most of the skills from nightfall, and none from EotN
Hi,
Note: Only part of this thread has to do with my necro build. This thread may need to be moved. I really couldn't decide where it should go.
Introductory to my current situation:
It has been at least 4 weeks since I came back to guild wars after leaving when nightfall was released. My account had been hacked when I came back, and even after changing passwords, 2 weeks later my account was hacked again. I lost all my birthday presents. I nearly quit right there.
I attempted to salvage halloween. I thought I did well as I got 5 stacks of ToT. I was farming ToT's for 4-6 hours a day.
However, I see a lot of people who had as many as 50 or more. That was a bit depressing. Since I am lacking skills from nightfall and eyes of the north, hope of doing UW just doesn't exists. That, and I couldn't do the second UW solo mission.
The Necro problems:
Moving on... The only farming build I have is a 55 SS n/mo necro. Finally I was able to get everything I needed for that build yesterday. However when I ventured out, I came across problems.
1. Hydras in the desert were easy to kill, but I only got claws as drops.
2. I went Ettin farming in hardmode in griffon's mouth I believe; I only got these lumps as drops.
3. I tried troll farming outside drok like I used to, but they interrupted my protection spells and died
4. I went outside in old ascalon in hard mode. At first I was wahoo a gold weapon drop. I tried to kill more grawl but they ran away. I moved on to scorpions and gargoyles and died when rather fast.
Any places that are doable with this necro build outside of prophecies?
I will be trying some places in factions today, but I need to know some nightfall and eyes of the north locations.
I just cannot find a guide that works because they were made before 2010.
I have been trying places listed in these guides that say you can make 5-10k a run. I managed 1k with the hydras.
I understand that anet does not like people to farm alone. However the only other way to replace my elite armor would be to start all my 10 lvl 20's from scratch. That would take too long. In a month I only made 40k and I don't have very many stacks of materials. I actually didn't think it was going to be that hard to recover.
Should I buy the skill packs for nightfall and eyes of the north? Will I have access to all skills at a skill trader if i do that? I see that some skills you get from specific factions? Do those skills unlock as well? While I would prefer to stick with my n/mo, because I did spend 5 days getting everything for her, I don't mind making a farming build if it actually works.
Builds seem outdated on Wiki. However my current build was a featured build, so why is it not working.
I'm not looking to make mad cash instantly. I was hoping for 10-15k a day from farming.
I'm sorry if I sound negative, but I just don't have the desire to keep playing if it is going to take me months just to get 1 elite set of armor back. I believe I spent about 1-2 years getting 10+ sets and I just can't do that again. While I did want to play Guild Wars again, part of that reason is for rewards in GW2. I actually would have a lot of rewards if my account hadn't been hacked. It is ironic that I am basically a noob now; I used to run a decent guild during GW's first year.
Suggestions for my 55 SS n/mo are welcome. But any suggestion is welcome.
I have enough plat and materials to replace basic armor for about 1-3 of my characters for another build. And I do have all classes at level 20, and most have monk as a secondary profession.
Also please do not abbreviate places, as I don't know half the place in guild wars anymore.

You don't have Nightfall or Eye of the North? Might be a little off-topic, but how were you planning on getting the HoM rewards for GW2 without having access to EotN?
Edit: More to the point, since you have Factions, feather farming outside Jaya Bluffs is easy, fairly profitable, doesn't require max armor and can be done by pretty much any profession.
http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Any/Rt_Feather_Farmer Just replace the EotN skills with whatever you like.

No, I do have ALL expansions. I meant to say I don't have the skills.
I never finished nightfall on my core professions. And I did not get all the way through nightfall on my dervish and paragon.
I have eye of the north, but I have not played any of it.
As a result, I do not have skills from nightfall and eye of the north. Only my paragon and dervish have nightfall skills.
For the core professions, I did not find many skills in the starter area of nightfall.
I can pick one of my characters and play through the rest of the game if that is the best way to go. Although, I was hoping to get the armor sets first. That is just because I wish to enjoy the rest of the game without stressing over my armor. I have started new characters, but I keep stressing over my armor being gone and have been losing interest in new characters.
I have a fare share of heros, but I die in the UW instantly without killing a thing. Due to lack of skills, there just aren't any builds I can find.
But if the skill packs unlock all skills at skill trainers (including faction based skills), I might just buy them if they will save me time.
If completing elite areas is the only way now, that irritates me. I can understand it being the only real way to get Obsidian armor, but 15k armor?
I never farmed in those elite areas. I didn't have too.
Anyway, thanks for the replies, I will try feather farming in Jaya Bluff and see how that goes.
My goal is to replace 1 set of elite armor in 2 weeks. That would be 20 weeks. Although I really rather it be 1 week, because that is a long time, but I don't think that is possible.

Try this: Leave from Sardelac in HM and farm the Stone Elementals for Granite Slabs. Steady income, plus some golds. Be wary of the Grawl though. GL and Happy Hunting.

I'd say just play through Nightfall and/or EotN, if you haven't already. The hero skill trainers offer some skills to you for hero skill points, which will save you some cash.
Completing all campaigns without doing crazy purchases will get you some money from regular drops, which shouldn't be underestimated (doing vanquishes and HM missions with 7 heroes I could afford keeping 10 lockpicks with me, replennishing while needed, and still have some cash to spare as profit).
I farmed my first obsidian armor (for my necro ^^) for a pretty large part by 55'ing the undead groups outside bergen hotsprings in HM. Farming Luxon assassins from the quest The Halcyon Job in HM is more lucrative though (for me the best 55 farm spot). For the assassins I use the EotN PvE Skill "I am Unstoppable", so finish eotn first^^.
Also if you finished eotn and advance your reputation titles a little bit, you can go do fowsc as mop caller. It's pretty easy, just make sure to read up on your job, or watch it on youtube (if it's on there), so that you don't fail your group
If you did factions, go N/Rt and go spiritspammer. That can also solo a whole lot of different foes.
good luck and have fun

I believe unlocking the skills would only make them immediately available for your heroes. You would still need to go to certain skill trainers in order to get them for your own char or you could obtain them from tomes. Hope that helps, good luck.

The Spiteful Spirit build is still effective and useful , but you may want to consider running the Spoil Victor/Insidious Parasite build if you want to farm in the "world"..I find the SS build to be most effective in UW and other specific areas.
Just max your Blood line , then Curses , then spread your remaining points.Grab a Blood+1 headpeice...you don't even need the cesta with this build , there are items that grant a -40hp stat (I'm pretty sure it's -40 , I have like 3 of them)..and Insidious will buffer that easily.
This is not a mob dropper.
As for places to farm..that list would be long..
